Child Safety
Children are supervised at all times. Parents are required to sign their child in and out of Little School. Children will only be released to adults listed in their school file. We keep all doors locked and visitors are required to sign in and are monitored by staff.
Discipline
Children who are happy, busy, and well loved rarely have discipline problems. Redirection is always used first with skills taught to help with occasional disagreements. If necessary, an occasional, age appropriate “think about it time” may be used.
Immunizations
All children must be fully immunized and up to date on all vaccinations unless an exemption form is filed. Updated medical forms including a General Health Appraisal signed by a pediatrician and an Immunization Record are required each year.
Potty Training
Children must be independently potty-trained in our 3's, 4's, and 5's. No pull-ups please. We do accept children in diapers in our 2.5-year-old program and there is an additional $50/month fee until a child becomes potty-trained. Children are expected to be working on potty-training when they start in our 2.5-year-old program and our goal is for all children to be trained by January 1st.
Snacks and Lunches
Children bring their own snack, lunch, and water bottle to school. Little School is an allergy aware school, and allergies are closely monitored.
Parent Visitation and Involvement
Parents are encouraged and most welcome at Little School. Teachers work directly with parents for volunteering. For safety, visitors must sign in and wear a visitor’s badge.
School Snow Policy
We follow Douglas County Schools on closures. Snow days will be posted on 3 television stations and the front page of our website. Closures are made with the safety of children and families in mind. If Douglas County Schools are on a delay, we will delay 90 minutes and will open at 10:30am. Beforecare will be cancelled if there is a delay.
EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR
We offer Christmas and Graduation Programs, monthly Chapel time, Thanksgiving Feast days, Western Week, Pajama Day, Fun Parent Events, School Pictures, Book Fairs, Guest Speakers, our annual Art Show and more!
Dates and HOURS
We follow the Douglas County School District Calendar as closely as possible. Our calendar year runs from August to May and we are closed during the summer. School hours are 9:00am-1:00pm. We also offer a Beforecare program from 8:30-8:55am daily and Aftercare from 1:00-2:45pm. Office hours are 9:00am-3:00pm. The school office is closed during the summer.
